There is no nationwide campaigning and advocacy organisation providing an authoritative voice for physical activity. The UK is also lacking a body that co-ordinates and communicates with other interested parties to tackle the increasing trend of inactivity. Move4Health is that voice and that body. We have already forged partnerships with the UK's leading exercise and health scientists and are working with the five English regional physical activity forums, as well as with the Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland representatives who are all working to get their local populations active.
The Government has committed to getting 70% of the English population active by 2020. In Scotland the equivalent target is 50% by 2022. Neither Wales nor Northern Ireland have a target - both countries just commit to getting more people active.
Move4Health campaigns and lobbies to ensure everyone is better placed to take up the Government's activity challenge. But, reversing the current trend of inactivity requires the wider issue of public health inequalities to be addressed.

We work in partnership with local and national Government and health care providers, to publicise current evidence on the benefits of physical activity and the implications for daily life.
Move4Health plans to work alongside disease organisations, such as the British Heart Foundation, Diabetes UK and Cancer Research, the food and environment lobbies, as well as organisations representing older people, children and the youth.
Move4Health devises campaigns to educate the general public and health care professionals on to the importance of getting and keeping active. But altering behaviour will only be possible if Government recognises that complimentary and supportive legislative changes will be required. Move4Health is already working in partnership with Government but will strongly campaign for changes in public policy.
